Pointer missing

I have created my first ever Powerpoint presentation, and I need to use the
pointer on the display. It isn't there by default. The help file tells me I
can control the pointer by right-clicking and selecting Pointer from the
menu. But once the Slideshow has started, as soon as I right-click (or
left-click for that matter), the slideshow stops and there is no menu. What
am I doing wrong?

Fisherman,

open your presentation

slideshow menu > set up show > tick "kiosk" mode.

Then the pointer is always visible.

The other alternative is

tools menu > options > view > tick "show menu on right mouse click"

then the "right click" during a slideshow will bring up a menu with pointer
options

I have tried this but:
- with output set to Laptop I start the show I get the first slide on the
projector but it won't move on to the next slide and when I right-click the
show stops
- with output set to Primary I get the first slide on the laptop only,
(I have set display properties to extended desktop, monitor 1 is laptop and
monitor 2 is projector)
The other alternative is
tools menu > options > view > tick "show menu on right mouse click"
then the "right click" during a slideshow will bring up a menu with
pointer options
In Options I have always had checked:
- Popup menu on right mouse click, and
- Show popup menu button
I have tried unchecking each of these in turn but can't see any change in
display or function

Do you have any other ides please?
