Political email campaign

I am using FP 2000. I belong to a small community group. We want to set up
an email campaign where visitors to the website can enter their name,
address and email address into a form and then hit a "send" button and a
prepared email message is sent off to their political representative (email
address already entered). I would really appreciate any suggestions
regarding the most effective way of setting this sort of thing up on a
standard web server, which does not offer any extras such as FP extensions.
I have tried doing this using an html form using the server's standard cgi
form script, but it doesn't want to work. I'm sure there must be a better
way.

The server's standard cgi form script is probably what
you need to use. What's its name and how is it failing?

PS - Your host may me blocking outbound mail (not to your server) to prevent Spam

As someone who works in the political advocacy field, I would sugesst you do
this another way.

First have the e-mail button to push with the e-mail addie and subject line
already programmed. Then on the page this is all done, put a sample of three
or four messages that people can copy and paste in to the body of the
e-mail. This way the message is sent from the senders e-mail addie, has
their information in the body of the message, and will carry far more weight
than an automated and anonymous mailing will.
