poor graphics quality in Excel OS X

Running Illustrator 10, Mac OS X, Excel X. A vector image in
Illustrator is selected and copied. Turning now to Excel, Edit/Paste
special... (as picture). The image comes in very poor quality. In
pre-OS X days (Illustrator 9, Excel 2001), this workflow worked fine.

Any ideas what controls what? How can I improve this? Thanks.

Hi

Try saving the image as a file from Illustrator. On the Drawing toolbar
click the Import Picture From File button and bring in the image. My
preference is for jpeg format, but I've good luck with other formats, too.
