poor ocr quality

i dont know if its me who dont know how to use it or what, but it seems that
the results of the ocr of my document means that i'd rather retype it
manually than using a 99% correct document with minor adjustments.

i think i already set the language of the document to english, but in my ocr
result of a clean, well typed and printed document that used times news roman
font, all the words that have underline become recognised by the ocr as some
meaningless chinese text.

also, it seems not intuitive enough when i scan multiple pages of the
document. naturally, i wish the ocr process will also recognise all pages.
but it seems i have to manually select all pages and restart the ocr process
again so that it ocrs all pages.

so thats my 2 cents worth of comment from a confused user :)

OCR software can vary due to something as simple as the font. I've had
decent results with the OCR software that came with my scanner and I've had
truly crappy results.

I'm curious - what flavor OCR are you using?

i dont really understand what you mean by flavor of OCR. I just have an
ordinary Tiny Flatbed Scanner connected to a PC that has trad chinese winxp
installed , with a copy of office 2k3. i didn't expect the ocr in office 2k3
to be perfect, but after i tried it, i decided that it seems it is a time
waster if i want to count on it to save me some work or time.

The OCR software that shipped with Office was not a full version. There are programs
around that probably do a better job with your projects.
