For various business related reasons, including the ability to obtain
reliable backups and file sharing considerations, I recently stored a
10 MB Microsoft Project file on a File Server. When the file is stored
on the file server, however, I have hit a severe performance problem
that I don't know how to handle. The project file is used to track a
large number of short term projects (less than one year) and currently
contains about 9000 tasks. The problem occurs when switching from one
view to another. Sorting of these tasks takes 4 to 5 minutes if the
project file is stored on the network. A local file (stored on
workstation) accomplishes the same sorting in about 4 to 5 seconds!
Does anyone know how to overcome this?
