POP 3 accounts downloading stuck after mailbox move

Hi all

I have moved most of the POP 3 mailboxes last nite from the old to the new
server. Today alot of POP 3 account users are complaining when they try to
download their mails it gets stuck on 2 out 20 for example and then it stay
there. Is there something on the server that i can change or can i assume it
is because everyone is trying to download their mail all at the same time?

Thx in advance

Was there a lot of mail in the mailboxes when you did the move? If you have
your users set up to leave a copy of the mail on the server, they might well
have problems when they try to download again after you move - this is a
client-side issue.

Why are your users connecting via POP3? That's usually a bad idea. MAPI, RPC
over HTTP, OWA - even IMAP is better.

Hi

there was mail in their accounts but not alot - but today it is quiet so it
seems as if it was only the change over that was the issue.

Re: why i'm using POP3 - i thought that was the only method i can use to
connect my users to the exchange via a internet connection except RPC over
HTTP. Thought they had to be directly connected to the exchange via a LAN if
they are on MAPI or IMAP. Can i set them up on MAPI or IMAP also when they
connect to the server via a broanband internet connection?

What's the problem with using that?

IMAP, yes. But use RPC over HTTP. It's much better.

You can use RPC over HTTP in E2003 SP2, which is the same thing. :)
