POP Download Duplicates Messages

T

The Merg

I am using OL 2003 with Exchange at work, but have set up e-mail accounts to
download messages sent to two POP3 accounts. I have the setting checked to
"Leave a copy of messages on server" as I also check those accounts from home
and want to make sure that computer gets the e-mails as well.

In the past, once the message was downloaded at work, it would not download
it again. All of a sudden today, everytime it performs a download, it
downloads all the messages from the POP3 account, even if they have already
been downloaded. Did I uncheck some setting that I can't think of?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Merg

This is a sign of either a damaged profile or that Outlook isn't closing
properly.

Well, shutting down OL and restarting did not work. I had to restart the
entire the computer in order for it to start working properly.

I did notice that I was also having the issue on a laptop that was connected
to the same OL profile and also had the POP3 email accounts as well. I was
also having the issue on that computer too.

Thanks,
Merg

If this is occuring on the Work PC, better talk to your IT

Can be caused by anti virus apps intergrated with outlook, or performing an
auto send receive to frequently, try setting any auto send/receive for not
less tha 10 mins
But could equally be caused at your pop3 ISP end - maybe they have
updated/reset their settings

I already said that your symptoms indicate Outlook doesn't shut down properly,
so trying to restart it won't work. Rebooting yor computer guarantees Outlook
isn't running and that's why the symptoms go away for a while after a reboot.

See if something here helps:
