POP email multiple duplicate downloads HELP!

Hi,
ISP is SBC Global. I just installed Outlook 2003 yesterday and it keeps
downloading ALL the mail I have in the SBC web inbox, even though I"ve marked
them as "read" online, multiple times. Duplicate finder [bought and
installed] doesn't recognize most of them as dupes.

I've done "detect & repair," [got error 1311 source file not found;
C:\msocache\allusers\90000409-60000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9\ZS561.CAB.
Couldn't find that in my installation disk, either.]

SBC says they do not support Outlook 2003 -- "it's too new." Supervisor
asked me to search for pop3uidl.dbx and delete it, but this file is not on my
system.

Can anyone help?

The Supervisor is talking about Outlook Express. To find that file you will
need to select Show All Files in Windows Explorer\Tools\Folder Options\View.
That is a hidden file (pop3uidl.dbx)

Also you are posting in an Outlook group. You will need to post for further
help in a Outlook Express group.
Put the link(copy\paste) below into your IE Browser Address Bar and go there

Try installing Office 2003 post service pack 1 hotfix. It should fix this
problem. And just to mention Outlook should download all messages regardless
whether it is read.

Hi, yes, Peter, I know the supervisor was talking about Outlook Express, and
I know I posted in an Outlook 2003 group. I guess I should have been more
explicit, but as I said above, <<<<SBC says they do not support Outlook 2003
-- "it's too new." >>>> I.e., the "help" they offered me, to delete that
file, on supervisor level, was totally useless. And, hello, how can Outlook
2003 be "too new" to support? It's 2005. How does this multi-$$$ SBC
conglomerate get away with that? But mea culpa, I figured I was posting o a
board with an an experienced audience to whom I would not have to expound.

Anyway, I have now given up on Outlook 2003, after 48 hours of no-help,
uninstalled it, re-installed the rest of my Office 2003 software, talked to
foreign tech support another 3 times, and am now simply trying to find out
how to download Outlook Express so that I can do my work.

Hi, I don't understand what you mean, "post service pack 1 hotfix." I did
just reinstall Office, but since OUtlook continuously crashed my system, I
left it out. Thanks for your help. I'd been using AOL Communicator prior to
having that fail, and installing Outlook. At least now I can get my POP email
forwarded to AOL.
I guess Ireally will NEVER be able to leave AOL afterall. If I can at
least get OE running, I have a shot. of keeping up. Tx again.

Office2003 post service pack 1 hotfix can also be applied to Outlook 2003.
You can search MS knowledge base and find it. Hope this helps.

If you have Norton or McAfee or another Anti-virus scanner set for checking
incoming or outgoing email, disable that function. It often is the base
cause of duplicate mails being either sent or received, or not being sent.
If it is hard to remove, then uninstall the AV, and then reinstall but using
a custom installation and leave out the option to integrate with Outlook.
Your real-time scanner will catch anything in mail anyway. It is just a
marketing ploy meant to scare the unwashed public with something that their
base product already employs.

48 hours is a small enough time to wait, especially since you posted on a
weekend. Everyone here is a volunteer and the vast majority don't work for
Microsoft. You have to allow people time to answer your question.
Moreover, posting a question to a newsgroup whose main topic is not the
program you're asking about is a sure way to deprive yourself of a timely
answer.

Outlook works with SBC's Internet offerings very well. I use it every day.
