Pop up property changes my program functionality

I have an access db in which a button on a form launches a word app and
fills in a number of bookmarks from an underlying form. The form closes
using DoCmd.Close and focus stays with the word app allowing a user to edit
the document. When changing the form to a pop up, the word doc opens and
populates the bookmark but focus goes back to access. How can I stop this.
