POP3 / SMTP settings

Hi all,

I have just set up OL 2007 to use my POP3/SMTP server.

I am wondering if I can tweak it to do this:

1) Can I set OL so that a copy of sent messages is saved in the sent
items *on the server* (in addition to the sent items in OL) ?

2) Can I set up OL so that it downloads the received messages in 2
steps: step 1 message headers (sender-subject), step 2 (message body) ?

Thanks!

If you are setting up your own mail servers then you should already
understand the mail protocols that they use. POP only knows about a
mailbox. That's it. It has no concept of folders. There are no
commands in the POP protocol for selecting folders. If you want to keep
server- and client-side folders in sync, you will need to switch to
IMAP.

And the difference in performing those 2 steps from doing them in 1 step
is what? Or is what you really wanted to ask is how to do the 1st step
(WITHOUT following with the 2nd step)?

You can always configure Outlook to download just the headers to get a
list of mail items. However, you will then need to mark the items that
you want to download and then download the marked items.
