populate data from excel into word

Hello,

I'am writing a lot of tenders for my job in word.
A lot of the text remaines the same. Specific data change all the
time. Example: client data..., specific data for the item I sell.
Before I can make the text. My colleagues have to fill in a data
sheet in excel, the result of calculations.

These results come back a few times into the text. I have to copy
them everytime by hand.

I have searched for a solution like "Fields" to create a variable in
Word, and by help of VBA to fill.
Like I do with PHP and MySQL into a html document.

Thanks for any help

If you create an excel sheet to collate the results as a table, you could
use mail merge to populate your forms.
If the colleagues are updating the *same* sheet you could paste links to the
relevant cells of the sheet and the document would be updated show the
latest data.

The original text of my proposal have more than 100 pages and mosly
plain text.
In totaly there are more than 200 variables in the excel-file (guess)

Copying from excel table to word table is not the way that I search
for.
I have made very fast created a example I was thinking for. (I would
like to have, or create)

Variables in excel tabel:
$Brand_truck
$type_truck
$type_trailer
$weight_truck
$lenght_trailer
$hight_trailer
$weight_trailer
$wheel_amount

Example of text:
By hand of the inquiry we offer you a $Brand_truck specific type
$type_truck.
The dimensions of $type_trailer are $lenght_trailer and
$hight_trailer.
The $type_trailer has $wheel_amount wheels and has a wait of
$weihgt_trailer.

I am not shure if it is event possible in word.

Thanks already for your help.

I have discoverd the use of mail merge with Access and its working
very good. The idea is very good.
Know I have made different documents (word) that I merge together true
excell.

I recieve a warning message. "Opening this will run the following SQL
command"

I have found also the sollution. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/825765

The computer that I use is restricted and don't have access to the
regestry.

Can I use the fields like the mail merge with VBA?
Has some-one an example?

Greetings,
Gerrit
