Popup menus in Word

I am trying to work out a way to have a Word document that
when opened from a template, it would prompt the user with
several different popup lists. I have looked at AutoText
& Drop down form fields but I could not work out how these
can prompt the user when the document opens.

Ask & Fillins fields are not lists

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks your your response Suzanne. The 2 reference
sites were very helpful

I am not sure if a form is what I am looking for in this
instance as the template I am trying to do is a letter
which requires some user input on opening or even when
printing. Thanks

Tony

A UserForm is *just* what you need. It can collect data from the user upon
creation of a new document from a template, insert it in the document, and
then let the user create the document normally (unlike form fields, which
require the document to be protected). If you need to collect information
upon opening the document, you can use an AutoOpen macro to present a
UserForm; for printing, you can intercept the Print command with FilePrint
and FilePrintDefault macros that display a form.
