Popup menus/Submenus

Looking for a good way to make a navigation menu with sub
menus...I can either place it along the side of the page
or along the top. Does anyone know of any resources or
examples I could look at that won't take me a full day to
figure out? Not really knowledgeable of javascript but can
figure it out a bit.
