Port Analyzer Availability Issue

Hello

on my analyzer page i have a cube that goes by week and resource and shows
both Work and Availability. It seems that each employees Avail becomes blank
when I scroll over to the end of their scheduled work. I would assume as I
have the Enterprise Options set out for 12 months and everyone is on the
identical calendar that if there was an issue with either of these the
everyone's Avail would go blank at the same spot. This is not the case. It
goes blank when the end of their scheduled work is reached.

I am running MS Proj Server 2003 with SP1.

Any ideas?

Hi RKT,

You may want to have a look in Admin > Manage Enterprise features > and
check the "Date Range of resource Availability. this feature allows you to
tell the cube"how much availabillity" should be calculated when building the
OLAP Cube. Check the value entered and change it to the weeks you would like
to see in your cube.

I hope this solves your problem

Sorry,

I have had the Resource Avail set for 1 month in the past and 12 mos in the
future since I installed the software. This issue of availability was
recently pointed out to me.

Say a resource is booked to May 31st, 2005 and not booked any longer. They
still have availability in their personal calendar. You would expect to see
avail in the cube. However, at June 1st onward they do not show any avail.
The field is blank.

This is only the case when i use WEEKS in the cube. I am wondering if
anyone ele has encountered this with a cube with WEEKS.

Hi,

I just created the new shared time dimension using Dimension Wizard in
Analysis Services. (Star Schema - Time Dimension - Year.Weeks.Days) I then
processed the dimension, saved it, and added it to the two cubes and the
virtual cube.

I then processed the whole cube from Analysis Services and then ran the
cube from PWA and the Weeks dimension was in the Portfolio Analyzer.
Everything else works fine with the dimension but the Availability.

I think I may have tracked down the culprit. In the calculated member
Availability it refers to the measure of Time.Year when calculating the
Avail. I believe changing that formula to produce an additional Weeks
Availability measure should solve the problem.

I haven't looked in to those formulas to know exactly what they are all
about yet. I was wondering if anyone knew of a document etc... that might
explain them.

Also, I may be way off base with my current logic so any advice is much
appreciated.

I am grateful to find your post. I have tried to add a week dimension to the
cubes using the New Dimension wizard. I don't seem to get the Select
Dimension type page and thus cannot select that I want to add a time
dimension. Would you know what I am doing wrong?
Thanks so much,
Christine
