Portfolio Analyzer access problem

Hi

We have a problem with OLAP cube access.
After creating an OLAP Cube for Portfolio Analyzer usage, I migrated OLAP
Cube database to MSSQL Server 2000, then gave permissions to (domain) users
as stated in Project Server 2003 installation manual. But when a user tries
to look at Portfolio related page, there comes a authentication box. After
writing the login information, we get an error like this:

Unable to open connection. the operation failed due to security problems.
the user could not be authenticated.

Only administrator user of Project Server is able to access the OLAP cube.
How can we give access to other users without authentication or How to make
it in a secure way? (Do we have to use SSL?)

It sounds as though your OLAP Admin account does not have the correct
permissions on the database. Review these against the installation guide.

Sorry for the duplicate messages.

We have been using local administrator as windows account for sharepoint
services and project server, and it is already in the OLAP Administrators
list and I suppose it has all the rights on the database. We can reach the
cube on the server using the administrator account (web access acount).
We did not manage to access the cube from remote computers using domain
accounts, even the administrator account for the local computer (that is
used as OLAP administrator).

Thanks in advance.

Hi again, we still have the problem, I tried the article "How to connect to
Analysis Server 2000 by using Http Connection" from the
support.microsoft.com.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q279489

Here, msolap.asp file is said to be put in either the Inetpub\Wwwroot folder
or to a subfolder under Wwwroot. But since I did not manage to set
appropriate authorization settings, I put the file into the same directory
with Projectserver. Then I continued by changing the view settings for
Portfolio Analyzer, but when I wrote the url http://localhost/projectserver/
as analysis server and clicked apply, the browser (ie) froze.

By the way, if I add the users in the domain, to the OLAP Administrators
group, will users still have to enter login information while accessing the
OLAP cube?

Thanks in advance..

Ok, so what you're saying, when you say that you used the local admin
account for everything, is that you didn't follow the recommendations in the
installation guide and instead made decisions to take shortcuts. Given that,
it seems you might have made other shortcuts that could affect your
installation.
