Portfolio Analyzer Data in MSP 2003

We have 3 separate enviroments (databases and applications) for MS
Project Server 2003 - Production, Test, and Development. While
testing in the Test and Development environments, I noticed that the
data in Portfolio Analyzer ONLY is the data from Production. The PA
cube's Analysis Server and Analysis Server are pointing to the Test
and Development environments in PWA Admin. As an example, last week
in Production, I renamed 'Project A' to 'AB Project' (not the real
names). In both Test and Dev I rebuilt the cubes and on the Project
Center page the project name is 'Project A', however, in PA the
project name is 'AB Project'. Also, the resource hours in Test and
Dev match those in Production. When I query the tables
MSP_CUBE_PROJECT, MSP_WEB_PROJECT, and MSP_PROJECT, the project name
is 'Project A'. My systems engineer and DBA have thoroughly checked
the backend of Test and Dev and do not find any reference pointing to
Production. Does anyone have any suggestions where else we should
look?

Thanks,
Kathy

Describe the "environments" is a bit more detail. Are these three
environments three separate servers, or three database instances using one
(or two) servers running Project Server/WSS? Is SQL Server replicated on the
machines running Project Server, or is SQL server on its own machine hosting
multiple instances?

Look in all three PWA "Admin->Manage Enterprise features->Update Resource
Tables and OLAP Cube" views, and check "Analysis Server/Cube name"
combinations. They should be different, or at least Production's values
should appear in Test or Development.

Hope this helps ...

Thank you for responding...

Are these three environments three separate servers <YES> Application
is on 3 different servers.

SQL server on its own machine hosting multiple instances <YES>?

Look in all three PWA "Admin->Manage Enterprise features->Update
Resource Tables and OLAP Cube" views, and check "Analysis Server/Cube
name" combinations.  The Analysis Server name for all 3 is different.
The Cube Name is the same for all 3 environments. The Analysis Server
extranet address is different for all 3 environments.

Today, in our development environment, we created a new Cube from the
below instructions, rebuilt the cube and the data is still coming from
Production.

Any think else that needs to be check?

FWIW, I thought Analysis Services ran on the same machine as SQL Server,
so three DIFFERENT server names for Analysis Server raises a red flag, since
you use ONE SQL Server.

IMHO, I think the problem is in Analysis Services set-up, so get your
DBA to THOROUGHLY check that. If Analysis Services is indeed on another
machine, perhaps someone got the set-up data mixed up between Production and
Development. Other thn that, I'm fresh out of ideas! :>(

Good Luck!

You are not going to believe how easy the solution was...when
production environment was copied to the test and development
environments, we forgot to change the Analysis Server name in Admin >
Manage Views > Portfolio Analyzer (each of the views). The Analysis
Server name was still pointing to production.

JTC, sorry for the inconvenience but thanks for attempting to help.

Closing this issue.

Good work! I had forgotten about the views having that information!
