Portfolio analyzer isnt showing

the portfolio analyzer doesnt work in project web access, I have installed sql server with analysis server and both of their service packs 3. then I have integratoin with sharepoint portal server as well. when I go to the admin option and see if an olap cube is built or not it shows built successfully. Then why isnt portfolio analyzer built. On another friends computer if he tries to access the portfolio analyzer on the same server he can see it then why cant I

Perhaps you don't have permission. What has your friend got that you don't
have?

Hi Nosh

On the Server you are running Microsoft Analysis Server for the Microsoft Project Server 2003, Go to Analysis Manager (Start .. Programs .. Microsoft SQL Server .. Analysis Services .. Analysis Manager). Now, on the left Pane, expand the tree until you fond the Cube Database you have built. Right Click on it, and click Manage Rules. On the screen appeared, click new. On the screen appeared, click Add. Now add the user (from the Domain) you want to access the cube and Click Ok. on the Create a Database Role, Click on the tab Cubes. Now select all the cubes and click OK. Now Click Close

Try to view the Portfolio Analyzer again. :-

Amjad I have tried the above but the problem is that on some machines it shows the portfolio ananlyzer view and on some it give the same message saying
"Unable to access the Microsoft Office Project Portfolio Analyzer OLAP cube

The cube may not exist, or you may not have permissions to access the cube.
I will tell you stepwise what I have tried uptil now
1) I have added the computers users on the domain that need access to the portfolio analyzer, as administrators on the machine where both project server and analysis server are installed
2) I have added all these computer users, in the databsase roles in the analysis server instance of the project server
3) I have given these computer users administrator rights in project server itself which gives full rights on protfolio analyzer as well

But still for example one of these users when connects from his machine cannot access the portfolio analyzer view. Another thing to be noted is that we are using windows user authentication for project server as well
Let me know if you have anything else in mind.

I have finally found the setting, it was a very basic level setting. Actually the internet explorer in windows server 2003, disables the activex controls and the access to data sources from other trusted sites, these things have to be enabled in the trusted websites setting in the security settings in trusted websites
