Portfolio Analyzer Not Displaying Actual Costs consistently

Can someone tell me why some of my projects' 'Actual Cost' do not appear in
the Portfolio Analyzer?

If I view 'Task Actual Cost' instead, in the case were we extended the OLAP
to capture task level data, then the actuals for all the projects in question
are there and contain the correct values.

Note, we enter actuals in the project files manually. Could this have
something to do with it? Yet, all the projects' Actual Cost display
perfectly fine in the Project Center! Why would there a discrepency between
some project files between Project Center and Portfolio Analyzer exist.

Any suggestions?

hi ST,

firstly I would check that the cube actually rebuilds. If not rebuild the
cube and see if the actual cost will come up.

Secondly, you are using PS 2003 I assume ( due to the name Portfolio
Analyser, in 2007 it is called Data Analyser). If this is the case, you guys
obiously extended the cube, since the Portfolio Analyser only captures
project level information, not task level information. From what I can read
from your post you have extended the cube functionality. In this case you may
want to talk to your developers, since it seems that the extention of the
cube may not work correctly.
Hope this helps

When you say the extention is working, but the standard cube is not, does
this mean the standard cube does not display the actual work on the project
level?
Thanks

Actual "Work" is OK, but don't forget that we are entering our own costs and
thus MS Project is not set to calculate actual "costs". The task level OLAP
cube picks up the actual cost data; the standard OLAP cube does not. So far,
we have identified one file were actual costs not comming through, other
project files are reporting fine. I have not done a broader check of the
cube to see if other projects are missing actual costs or other like data.

Note, I had a similar problem in the past in that the actual cost data was
not being brought into Portfolio Analyzer but which I was able to rectify.
The reason for it was that the project's start date was after the date for
which the actual costs were entered. OLAP cube only picked up data between
start and finish date.

PS. OLAP cube is generating fine
