Portfolio Analyzer very sluggish

The Portfolio Analyzer views are running really slow. Once a few is
open when you expand or collapse a value or select or deselect a value
it takes 45 seconds? I monitored the SQL quad processors, there is not
even a blip on the radar when I execute a change. My local processors
runs at 100% under the IE process. I have not had a problem in the past
and there is nothing else running in the background. Any ideas where to
look next or what the problem is? Other uses also are not having the
problem.

I just tried logging on with a different computer and I have the same
problem, so it seems to have to do with my account name and not the
computer or application.

Kevin:

Is this happening on all views? Are you maybe over-exercising the time
dimension?

I have foiund also that the Office Web Components that are used by Project
Server OLAP views are very sluggist when dealing with large datasets.
Basicly the entire dataset for the fact tables and dimension are in memory
any filtering, expanding is being done in teh memory of the client on tin
entire dataset.

You can make the Project Server OLAP Views fater by change their query to
use a MDX query not a table query. The down side of this that the users
can't add move dimensions or data unless it is in the MDX query. Also the
MDX queries are harder to create.

Ther are some discussions on microsoft.public.sqlserver.olap about this
problem.

Hope this helps.
