Portfolio Analyzer view permissions

Haris

Hi,
I have created a custom portfolio analyzer view for the PM of a particular
project. Everything works fine but that the PM has access to ALL the projects
and resources of the organization even though the RBS and PWA permissions for
the PM have been set to limit the view to his particular project and
resources only. Is this a default behaviour of the portfolio analyzer? How
can I limit the portfolio analyzer view of the PM to his project only?
Looking forward to your suggestions.

Haris

Dear Harris;

Please be more specific on the question;
Can the PM see all the projects and resources in the Project Center and the
resource center or can he simply see all the Projects and resources in the
Portfolio analyser view.

Thanks for the response. What I'm aiming to do is to limit a PM to view only
those projects in Portfolio Analyzer which he's managing. Right now, in the
Project Center view a PM can see only his own projects. But when the same PM
selects to open that project in portfolio analyzer, all the projects of the
organization and all the resources in the enterprise resource pool. How can i
limit this view to only PM's projects?

Dear Harris

WHile creating a portfolio view, you have the option to allow/disallow some
key features.

Click on the "Command and options" images
Choose the protection tab.
Disallow features that you do not want the user to use.

THis way only the admin can show the PM of what he should see, therefore you
make the cube and select the appropriate projects per dept or per PM and then
save it to the system

Hope this helps.

This doesn't solve the problem. Out of the fields list, I have dropped the
"Projects" field into the view. As a result ALL the organization's projects
are available for viewing, where as i want the PM to view only his particular
Project. The Commands and Options doesn't allow this feature.

Dear Haris

For this purpose you have to create another portfolio analyzer view
that only have the projects managed by the project manager. And then
add this view to MyProjects categories. Only this way you can achieve
this goal. And if you want all projects portfolio view to be visible
to some high profile people create a new category and add this view to
that category.

Tell me if i have answer your questions

There is no good way to do what you want to do. Once you let someone in to
see the cube data, you're letting them in.

Thank you All for the valueable feedback. I've worked it out after the
suggestion from all of you. I modified the particular portfolio analyzer view
and then using the 'commands and options' dialog, i went to the protection
tab and unchecked the 'Filters' option. This way the particular PM cannot
check/uncheck the projects/resources in his portfolio analyzer view. But
still i know he can enable filters through the comands and options dialog.
The administrator can uncheck the 'view commands and options in run mode'
option too, but this disables the button for administrator as well and i'm
not sure how to bring it back for administrator, so i'm working on that. Rest
went pretty ok.

Regards,
Haris
