We are on MSP Server 2003. We just noticed our Portfolio Analyzer views were
not being updated. We manually ran the process to generate a new OLAP cube
by clicking on the "Update Now" button. (Normally, it is scheduled to run
over night.) At first, it wasn't working. We restarted some processes and
got it going again; receiving the highly coveted, "The cube was successfully
built on..." message. High fives all around, right? No!
We checked the Portfolio Analyzer views in PWA only to find no change. I
added Actual Work to one of the views and the last day to show any Actual
Work was 9 days ago. Based on the data patterns, it appears the data being
displayed is old data; presumably, 9 days old.
Despite this discovery so late, we do use the views daily; so they are
important to us.
The cube name and server names in the views descriptions and in the Admin
set-up for the OLAP cube match. So now, I am somewhat bewildered.
1. If the OLAP cube generated "successfully", is it safe to assume the data
has been updated in the OLAP cube? If so, why do the views not reflect this?
2. If not from the OLAP cube, where could the Portfolio Analyzer views be
getting the data? Is the view somehow saving a static snapshot of the data
from when it was last "updated"?
Any help would be appreciated. I'm at a lost on where to check next.
