Portfolio Server Imports

Hello, Im hoping somone one here is a user of Portfolio Server 2007. I need
to import project data from excel, but I cannot access to Data Import WIzard
from Builder>Settings>Data Transfer.

The account does has full assess permissions, and the Excel setting of Trust
access to Visual Basic is enabled.

Hi Mike,

I have some exposure to Portfolio Server. When you say you dont have access,
does it mean that the Data Import link is greyed out? If so than it is
clearly a permission issue.

if you can access the data Imprt wizard, what exact error message do you
receive? Objously you have set Excel security trust level down, which is a
pre-requisit. Let me know what you do step by step and what error message you
receive and I will see if I can give some advice.

Hi Marc,

I'm also having the same problem. If I use Builder / Settings / Data Import
the area of the screen that should display the Import Wizard remains blank,
except of a small box in the top left corner with a red cross in it.

If I try to import data whilst in Analyser, using Edit, Data, Project, the
button to open the Import Wizard doesn't appear.

I can export data to Excel with no problem.

I've probably missed doing something in as System Administrator when setting
things up.

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Hi burwooc,

Something tells met that you need to chance settings in your browser ( maybe
enable active X components) then the screen may be filled and doesnt remain
blank.

Hi Marc,

Thanks for the reply. I don't think it's an Active X issue, as it needs to
be enabled to run MPPS and all other parts of the software run ok. I think
it's likely to be something in the set up options controlled by the
administrator, or data needs to be loaded / saved in another part of MPPS for
the Import Data option to work. At the moment I can't see what that something
is.

That is a good point mate, If you think that it is an access issue, you may
want to try to "play" with the security settings. Sorry I cant be of more help
