positioning footers in sections

I have a document made up of several sections, each with its own
footer. Each section positions the footer differently on the page -
even though the margins, and footer position information is the same
throughout the document. Any clues? I am using windows on a pc. I know
I can run windows on my macbook pro, but I'm not!

Based on the little you've disclosed I would have to guess that it is the
Footer *content* that must be causing the problem. Make sure you have the ¶
symbols displayed in the doc to help determine what is causing the spacing
difference and examine any graphic content or borders that may be applied.

However, it may be something that is version-specific. If - as you suggest -
you're using PC Word you may do better to post your problem to one of the PC
Word groups (probably Page Layout or General Questions) which are listed at:

Make sure you specify which version of Office/Word & Windows you're using as
well as whatever additional details you can supply about the issue.

Hi Annette:

The first place to look is to ensure that your document Margins are
sufficiently large to contain all of the information in the footer,
especially if it contains dynamic elements.

If the margins are too small, Word expands the footer area inwards to
accommodate the whole of the footer, and this will result in varying footer
placement.
