If you are still looking for a solution, here's one that relies on
replacing the marker (rather than the datalabel).
Create an arrow with the Drawing toolbar: AutoShapes: Block arrows,
Down pointing arrow. Size it as desired. Make a copy of it, position
one below the other. For the lower one, set the Line and Fill to None.
Group the two objects together. Copy the grouped object. On the
chart, select the point of interest (select the line, pause, select the
point). Paste to replace the marker with the copied object.
