positioning text boxes 'exactly'

I don't know if I will be able to describe my problem but here goes:

I am working with a floor plan layout. I need to insert text boxes to
overlay certain areas of the Word doc to add booth numbers and various other
information overlaying the floor plan. Many of these are very small text
boxes and need to be positioned in just the right place.
When I try to move/position the text boxes it does not allow me to position
it exactly where I need it to be. It doesn't move smoothly and it sort of
jumps and only allows me to move it in certain increments, like every 1/8 of
an inch (just for an example). It seems that each move is like a certain
allowed distance and won't let me just slide it to exactly where I want it.
So the result is a fraction or more off from exactly where I need to place
the text box.

Does anyone know how I can get the text box to move exactly where I need it
to be instead of it only allowing me to move it in certain increments?

I hope this makes sense and someone can help me fix this.

Thanks!

Press Alt to override the grid. Or double-click the edge of the text box to
open the Text Box dialog and use Layout | Advanced to set the position
exactly.

oh my goodness......you are amazing! I can't believe how much time I have
wasted trying to get 100s of those text boxes positioned....arggghh.

And now I suppose you are going to tell me that the answer is in the Help
screens in Word(?)

Thanks again Suzanne! You totally made my day! (cheap thrills huh? lol)

I rarely make the mistake of sending users to Help unless I know the exact
title of a Help topic, and in Word 2007 all bets are off because the Help
there is totally useless no matter what you're looking for. No, the secret
is to keep hanging around here. You'll be amazed how much you can learn.
