Positioning the linked label

Hi

I'm having bad trouble with those annoying "linked" labels - linked to
more interesting controls, like textboxes/listboxes etc.

I normally never use them because they're such a pain - but I'm
altering an existing application, the client has got used to the look,
and the look includes that "label is kind of chiselled and disabled if
its parent control is disabled" effect which Access does automatically,
but which is impossible to reproduce manually.

I've worked out how to create new linked labels (Cut a label, select
control to get the linked label, Paste) - but not how to position them.
Usually Access quite sensibly (for my purposes) positions them above
the associated control. On this occasion, GOKnows why, Access is
position the label to the left of the listbox. Even if I shove the
listbox up against the left boundary to try to hint that maybe the
label should go above.

There's no way of moving the label independently of the associated
control - except delinking it - and then when I link it back, back it
jumps to the left!

How do you set the relative position of the label - relative to its
linked control? I'm sure I remember some Label X and Y???? properties
from years back (using Access 2000 now) - or am I imagining that? They
don't appear in the full VBA-listed Properties of either the label or
the master control.

You're working to hard.

You can position a label anywhere in the section (without cutting and
pasting) simply by selecting it and then left-click and drag the
little black square (the cursor will change to a finger) at the top
left corner of the label.
You can do the same with the text/combo control to which it is
attached to move the text control instead of the label.

To move the label out of the section, i.e. from the detail to the page
header, select the label, cut it. Move the cursor to the new section
and paste. The label will be separated from it's control and appear in
the upper left corner of the section.
