Hey guys and gals. I found this on a message board while trying to find a
solutions for our network save problems. I haven't had a chance to test it
yet, but will very soon. In the mean time though, if someone wants to try it
and give feedback, that would be cool. Good luck people!
"We are a large school district in upstate NY and are experiencing the same
issues. An initial save from Word works fine, but subsequent saves produces
the error "Word cannot save this files because it is already open
elsewhere." I read on some other sites it's because Tiger creates two paths
to the file and has trouble saving to the initial path because it is locked
from the first save (make sense?). Also, one fix (for each user) for this is
to go to the Word Menu -> Preferences -> File Locations -> Documents ->
Click Modify and set the path to the user's Home Directory -> Documents
folder. You will see the path show up under Location, save changes, quit
Word and re-launch, it should work now. Just a pain to get 2500 elementary
kids to do this!"
