Possible to Archive a Shared Calendar?

I'm the "owner" of a shared calendar under our Public
Folders. Is it possible to archive shared calendars? When
I do the Archive option and specify a range of dates to
archive, it tells me that the folder cannot be archived.
Our desktop support told me I can copy the calendar into
my personal folders and then archive it but if I do it
that way, I can't select a range of dates. Any
suggestions?

The calendar, by virtue of it being an Exchange Public Folder, does not need
to be archived. The calendar is kept on the server. Why do you want to
archive it?

The server is set up to delete entries over 365 days old.
My director however wants a quarterly archive so that he
can access historic data.
