Possible to convert Primavera P3 files to Project without data los

I'm aiming to import a good deal of our scheduling data from P3 to Visio for
a particular client. I gather the best possible way is to convert to Project
format before hand, and I'd like to know if anyone here has ever tried such a
conversion? Having tried it in the past, I've had to re-enter a good bit of
project data that didn't quite meet MS's Project 2003 conversion
requirements. Is it any different with Project 2007? That is, P3 -> Project
-> Visio? Do let me know, as it'd save me heaps of time from converting
manually from P3 -> Visio.
