Possible to create a Scatterplot using categories?

I'm trying to create a histogram with categories (e.g., low, medium,
high) on the X-axis and a numeric scale on the Y-axis. However, doing
a scatter plot turns the categories on the X-axis into numeric values.

I can do a line graph and have it displayed correctly (numeric scale
for Y-axis and categories for X-axis); however, there is a line
connecting the data points. What I'm trying to do is just like that
without the line. (see crude example below)

I found no solution to this problem from the newsgroup, Excel Help, nor
Google. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

One way:

Create your line chart. CTRL- or right-click on the line or a data point
and choose Format Data Series...

In the dialog that opens, select "No Line" from the Line/Color dropdown.
Change the marker, axes, legend, etc., to suit.
