POSSIBLE TO HAVE A"FULL-SCREEN" VIEW?

I know how to hide the toolbars and turn on the 'full-screen' option,
but the menu bar at the top of the screen is still present, i.e. the
one that (at the moment) says:-

"Safari,file,edit,view,history,bookmarks,window,help".

When 'word is running, the words are slightly different, but you know
what I mean.

Is it possible to get rid of this bar so that all you see is the words
you type, with no toolbars, no menubars, nothing? Thank you.

Well, you could attach a second monitor and, with system preferences,
place the system menu bar on it.

Not what you wanted was it?

No, I was just want to use it as a writing program, as the toolbars
and menubars have a definite effect on the ability to focus and
concentrate. There is a recommended program I will buy, called
"Ulysses"from "Blue-tec.com"that has this very feature, but it is
rather expensive, and as I am not keen to waste $$$ uneccessarily, or
an applescript whiz ; I was hoping that maybe one would read this
thread and say" that's easy, all you have to do is type... blah blah..
blah.."
Thanks anyway.

Not that I know of. It's there for a reason.

Cheaper option: Bluetack either side of the top of the display + appropriate
cardstock over where the menubar is.

High-tech version: delete Bluetack, insert Velcro buttons.

Seriously. :-|

Yes. A no-win situation for those 100 million or so of us who DON'T want to stare at the menubar all day while they're trying to think because it distracts them. Like when Jim Carey is trying to get his car out of the impoundment yard and he observes that all he can do about it is 'take it up the tailpipe', and the guy who works there says 'You've been here before.'

Nuff said.

OK. Have you tried to tape a strip of paper over the annoying part of
the screen? - It should work - or is it to simple? ;-)

Of course he could always just buy a shorter screen. :)

Wonder if one of those little haxies could adjust the color of the menu bar
to be black or dark blue or something...?

The old Kaleidoscope could do that to System 9.

Hi Michael,

I suspect that it is not possible. Word will not let you uncheck the menus
in Tools > Customize > Menus and Toolbars. Well, it will let you uncheck it,
but it comes right back. In visual basic an error is generated if you try to
turn the menu display to "false."

You could try customizing it and remove everything from the menu, but you'd
still have the blank menu bar showing. Was there a specific reason you
wanted to disable the menu bar?
