Post service pack 3 updates cripple office Xp

I have xp home installed , but not sp2, I installed office service pack 3,
and all was well, but when i installed the post service pack 3 updates the
programs don't work correctly.
you can save a file, but you can access it or any other office files on the
computer.

Disable the Office Plugin that comes with Symantec/Norton AntiVirus. See

I had uninstalled Norton antivirus, and am using McAffe, but with your hint,
I was able to track down the remaining noton files and remove them. Also
cleaned the registry of references to norton, now word and excel work fine,
thank you.
