Post sp2 problems

I am having extreme trackpad and button problems after installing sp2
on a G4 power book running Tiger 10.4.2. I have two of them and have
cloned the problem one to the other, so know that the problem is
software, not hardware.

While I am typing in any application, the cursor frequently jumps to
nearby text and selects it, causing the nearby text to be deleted on
the next key stroke.

Cursor also sometimes will not respond when moved from one place to
another and will not select the correct text.

I have been through extensive tech support with Apple, reset parameter
ram, reset pmu, trashed system prefs file.

1. Any idea how this can be fixed.
2. Is there any way to rollback the sp2 installation?

Thanks,

Dave

It seems very unlikely that Office 2004 SP 2 would have any effect on
trackpad operations, much less trackpad operations in non-Office
applications.

Did both of your powerbooks have SP 2 installed, or did one not and the
other did? If that's the case, then there's a more powerful argument that SP
2 is involved.

I, personally, have the problem that sometimes as I am typing that my right
thumb (or the meat thereof) is sufficiently close to the trackpad as to
sometimes cause the mouse to move. Between that, and my (to date) inability
to learn how to use the trackpad itself as a clicker (I end up clicking on
many things I do not care about accidentally), I've turned off all the mouse
gestures in the System Preferences / Keyboard & Mouse, and rely on the click
button below the trackpad to do any clicking. I don't know what the option
"ignore accidental trackpad input" is, though, but I have it checked in
Panther (10.3.9).
