? posting an item from Address Book [Global Address List] to a specific form and folder

I'd be grateful to anyone for giving this problem a think:

The organization I work for collects every employees basic contact
information in the 'Global Address List', available through the Outlook
Address Book. When a specific item is selected from the list, the form
that opens includes the button 'add to: Contacts', which when pressed
adds a contact item to the local mailbox, and populates many of the
fields accordingly. Is it possible to tweak the action of the 'add to:
Contacts' button, or create a new one altogether, so that the created
contact item would: a. be set to a subfolder of the local 'contacts'
folder; b. populate the data to a persoanlized contact form rather than
using the default; c. tweak what data from the orignial form is copied
to the newly created item, and to what field.

No. The behavior of that feature can't be changed.

Thanks responding Sue.

But how about taking this from a different angle. I just noticed the
button exactly to the right of the 'E-mail' field in the default
contacts form. It's functionality is to allow one to import the
'E-mail' address and 'Display As:' field details from a different
contact item (including something from the Global address list). I can
leave this button on my custom form, and it still works, but can I
expan the functionality of it so that it imports more than just the
email address to that form. Otherwise, is it possible to create a
similiar button from scracth that has an expanded capability, i.e. it
will allow a number of fields to be imported.

You can't change the functionality of any built-in button on any Outlook form.

You could create your own command button either with code behind an Outlook custom form or with a custom form using ActiveX control (which would have to be installed on each machine), but not without obstacles. For example, the Outlook object model in versions before Outlook 2007 has no method for displaying the address book for the user to select from or for returning property values from GAL user entries. You'd have to make sure CDO 1.21 is installed on each machine or, to avoid security prompts, use Redemption (http://www.dimastr.com/redemption/) and deploy it to each machine.
