Postnet Barcode in the publication

Is it possible to create the postnet barcode in the document and NOT
envelopes/labels? I want to print the addresses via mailmerge, but need to
incorporate the postnet barcode for automation discounts. This is possible in
Word, but doesn't appear to be in Publisher.

A good article, but did NOT answer my question. This article specifically
relates to envelopes/labels and NOT in the publication itself.

A good article, but did NOT answer my question. This article cites how to
print the barcode for envelopes and labels... which I specifically mentioned
in my original post I don't need. The barcode must be printed on the document
with the address.

Ed-

My apologies to you. While the document states for envelopes and labels,
further in the document it shows how to create the postnet barcode IF you
have the postnet data in your merge data source. Since I DO have this data, I
am able to properly create the barcode in the document.

A brief note about using "data" to create it instead of Publisher creating
would have helped, instead of just a link. Thank you for your help.

In either case the data creates it, not Publisher.

I have never created postal barcodes in Publisher, and so have no experience
in the matter. The link says everything I could possibly say.

Ed, my guess is that he believes that "read" is a four-letter word and will
miss this little blinger on the linked page:
"Each bar code must be based on a Zip+4 Code that has been properly matched
and coded with CASS-certified address matching methods. CASS stands for
Coding Accuracy Support System. You can verify your Zip+4 Codes by using an
online matching service or by purchasing list matching software. When you
verify your zip codes by using a service or appropriate software, you
receive a CASS report to keep on file in case the USPS asks for it."
The report is necessary when you deliver the mail sorted pieces to the Bulk
Mail Facility.
