Out of Africa:
I stupidly thought that Office 2011 would be a significant
improvement over the previous versions for Mac , but no, this is not
the case. It is still poor, very klunky and requires so many mouse
clicks to get anything done!
Who decided that Calibti 18pt should be the standard font? Does anyone
know how to change this, to suite?
That is a minor problem though.
The biggest issue and disappointment is that 2011 CRASHES MORE so
than the previous iteration. It crashes always almost, it seems at
will. Try running a PPT slide show? crash..I did the 'Update" that
was supposed to improve stability (160Mb or so) - its a joke, takes
more space costs me money to downlad and to top it off, nothing is
improved.
In reality Its got potential but remains boring (the crashes) and thus
is a HUGE waste of money.
Why does Microsoft continue to release products that are not stable,
and which become more difficult (complex) to use. When I prepare
material for teaching -- wait for it -- I suggest a better option and
use a Parallels - Windows - Office 2003 version for Powerpoints AND
for Excel (still has macros that actually work).
However, a cheaper and far better option is forget MS Office, the best
Office product out there for Mac users, is Open Office - It is plain,
simple and it works!
