Thanks for the messages. I am not trying to resize the chart, but change the
data. I have had a look at the points 2,3,4, and they were not able to help.
The problem seems to be computer dependent, in that if I open the
presentation on a second computer, I do not experience the same problem. Do
you guys know what Microsoft operation is happening when you open a chart
object? It seems to open with MS Graph, though doing so, alters the original
presentation, even before closing MS Graph. Visually, it looks as though the
font has expanded, as it no longer fits into the text boxes, and becomes
truncated. All labels on the chart suffer with this.

What TAJ said. But sometimes you can resize the chart using the Format
Object dialog, then open it and adjust the size properly by dragging the
handles.
