Slide background blue, copy and paste picture of man/woman/child/ house etc.,
now is shown on a white mini background not as an individual. This isn't a
problem if using a white background, Is there any way of getting rid of this
white mini background as in my 2000 version?

Nothing's really changed since 2000. Pictures are always rectangular and have a
background. If the background of the picture doesn't match the background in
PPT, it'll be visible.

In PPT2000 you probably used PowerPoint's Set Transparent Color feature to set
the white background transparent so it doesn't show.

You'll want to do the same thing in 2007. The trick is *finding* the tool <g>.

Click the picture to select it. The Picture Formatting ribbon becomes active.
In the "Adjust" area at the left of the ribbon, click "Recolor" and at the
bottom of the popup menu, you'll see "Set Transparent Color". Click that then
click in the white area of the picture and you should be good to go.

Sure, sure. Stand there, open the door, give me a push through it, but never
ever GO there. Uh-huh.
