Power Point as pps doesn't open as a show

Hi:
Ok.
I know I can save power point as pps and as ppt. Something happened and now
all the Power Points I have saved as pps do not open as a show but as a
regular presentation until I click the screen there. it doesn't matter if the
PP is a saved one one that I received it doesn't work as a show.
I have Office XP Pro and OS is Vista Home Premium.
Any help would be appreciated.

RIGHT click on a pps file and see what the default action is (it will be in
bold). Post back

I have that. File extensions are unhidden, know how to do that. Problem is

I'm not sure if I understood what you mean but if I right click on a pps
file the only thing that appears bold is OPEN. So... ????

Tried the /regserv thing (with UAC off) tried the detect and repair, In fact
I uninstalled and reinstalled Office BEFORE posting. The problem is still
there. Any other suggestion?
