Have been looking for some downloadable maps of the U.S. Preferably 3D and possibly be able to "separate" some states from the whole map for emphasis. Would like to be able to change colors etc

Any help greatly appreciated!

First, thank you for the reply and tip. I did the Google search and found the results you posted--I should have added another ? to my original one though. When I tried a "cut and paste" of the various maps into a PP slide, I get the URL. Is there a way to get the graphic to appear as a graphic and not a URL.

Another ?, while I'm on a "roll" with dumb ones--if I create a circle or other odd shape is there a way to make text conform to that shape?

TIA for your help

Thank you, TAJ!

Have been able to down load a few of the maps via Google since my original post.

Still trying to figure out how to have text conform to a circle or other non-straight line.

Sure glad I found this forum!

Hi uzj :)

Unfortunately, the pasting-as-URL is a known issue. To work around it, you
could right-click on the image and save it to your desktop insert the image
from there (via drag-and-drop or the Insert > Picture... dialogue).

For your other question, check out Text Transforms - they're in the
Formatting Palette, in the Quick Styles and Effects pane. Click on the "abc"
icon.

Hope this helps,

Hello,
You should be able to drag/drop the graphic from your web browser to your
desktop or right-click on the picture and Save Image As.... The format
should be an image format like .jpg, .png, etc. and you can double-check
this by clicking on the image on your desktop and File menu->Get Info and
looking at the Kind. Once you have the picture on your computer you should
be able to insert it in PowerPoint by going to the Insert menu->Picture...
and then selecting that picture on the desktop. To help text go around the
image you could try Insert menu->Text Box, select where you want it, type
the text you want, and then do the following with your text selected:
Go to the Formatting Palette->Quick Styles and Effects pane->Text Transforms
(the last tab)-> and select one that might help go around your object (like
Circle).

A conform text to object option is a good suggestion for a future Office
release. Also, it's good to know you'd like to copy the image from your web
browser and paste it into PowerPoint w/o having to first save it to your
computer (note: this also appears in PowerPoint 2004). Thanks for lettings
us know you'd like to be able to do this tasks, I hope this helps.
