Sorry, there's no feature to display Gridlines in 2008 or 2004. Whether they
were available in Mac versions prior to that I can't remember. There is an
underlying grid that provides the snap-to effect, however.

Yeah, I wonder why Microsoft hasn't provided the option
to turn gridlines on or off in PowerPoint for Mac?
It seems a useful feature in the Windows version.

You could, of course, draw a very light-colored table
on the slide master, resize it to fill the entire slide,
and then use it to simulate gridlines. Once you've finished
with it, just delete it from the slide master, and it will
vanish from all of your slides. It won't work quite as
nicely as the PowerPoint for Windows gridlines, but it may
help.

In 2004 (and presumably The Version Which Still Slouches Toward Mountainview
Waiting To Be Born) you can use a handy little VBA macro to draw a grid for
you.

Ah, VBA (shrugs).
The lamentations of PowerPoint 2008 users.
I can see the curved, hunched-over shoulders,
the bread lines, the gloomy, dark streets that PowerPoint 2008
users have been forced to traverse...

Now (waving his conductor's baton), in AppleScript, please!

(It was a good idea, anyway, Steve. Really. ;) )

There's a great article on MacTech by our own Paul Berkowitz ... everything you
ever wanted to know about converting VBA to Applescript.

Over to you, sir. <g>

Or we wait for the next version of PPT/Mac.
