I have created PC power points but this is my first with the newer version on MAC. I know I am probably just brain dead, but how do I get to a read-only version that shows only the slide show without the toolbars and crap...when I e-mail to colleagues?

No, you're not brain dead - at least this isn't proof of it :) PPt on the
Mac does not include any Protection mechanisms.

One Option: Use the File> Save As dialog to produce a copy as a PowerPoint
Show (.ppsx) [from the Format: list in that dialog]. It will run when
dbl-clicked & quit when ended. That format requires that the recipient have
PPt or PPt Viewer & can still be opened for editing in PPt using File> Open.

Another: As above but Save As a PowerPoint Movie (.mov) which will run in
QuickTime Player.

Information on each format is available in PPt's Help - See:

File formats for saving presentations

I think you're looking for a PowerPoint Show, same as you'd have saved to in the Win version.

You should understand, though, that these are NOT read-only. Not on the Mac, and not under Windows.
