Power Point Starts Itself

Hi there,

I use PPT 2003 with Windows XP. When I start the PC (not PPT), I get a
message that PPT was not closed properly and if I want to start it in Safe
mode. I have no clue why it does it. I close PPT normally, I don't ask for
PPT to start and yet this message comes up every time. No, I don't have PPT
in the start up folder.

Any idea? It's not dramatic, because if I then start it in Safe mode and
close it again everything is normal. Still an annoyance, though.

I would uninstall all add-ins and see if that resolves the issue. If so, you
can reinstall the add-ins one at a time to figure out which is causing the
problem.

Here's a way to see what add-ins are installed in PPT, because sometimes
it's hard to tell. Not all are listed under Tools | Add-ins.

What add-ins are loaded?

Also, you can just disable some of the add-ins by following the instructions
at the end of that page. That may save you a bit of uninstall/reinstall
hassle.

Thanks help. It was Music Span that caused the problem. Once unloaded
everything is fine. This leaves me with looking for a new program to play
music in PPT.

I would uninstall all add-ins and see if that resolves the issue. If so,
you can reinstall the add-ins one at a time to figure out which is causing
the problem.

Here's a way to see what add-ins are installed in PPT, because sometimes
it's hard to tell. Not all are listed under Tools | Add-ins.

Interesting. We haven't seen reports of Music Span causing issues. Wonder if
it's a conflict between it and another add-in?

It's the only add-in I have, so it can't be a conflit with another one.
However, you're right, somewhere there must be a conflict. Shame, I liked
Music Span for its simplicity.
