Powerpint 2007 grid is not precise

Hi - I have a slide in 10 X 10 cm with a grid set to 2 pr cm
I have enabled Snap to Grid.
When I try to position lines to the gridpoint they are clearly not precisely
positioned
Problem only in 2007 - When Im working in 2003 there is no problem
Im guessing it some inaccurate calculations between cm and inches?
Any one know what to do to enhance the precision of the grid?

Hello,

I have the same problem and I'm using inches so it isn't an issue with
conversions between units. I want my grid set to 0.05" and have configured
Powerpoint 2007 accordingly. But the sizing and location of objects are
often off by 0.01". Even worse is that this error accumulates if I cut and
paste copies of the object so eventually objects are off by 0.02, 0.03, 0.04,
etc. Same thing occurs if I select a 1/10" grid from the list.

If I place an object perfectly on the grid and start moving it around it
should always move in exactly 0.05" steps. It does not. Sometimes it moves
0.06, sometimes 0.05, and sometimes 0.01. So the grid end up being worse
than useless since it is effectively forcing a snap to a misaligned position.

I think this is a bug in PowerPoint. Its a big deal since I have a lot of
document portability issues if I embed Visio drawings but really need the
grid snap function to work right in PowerPoint to use it for drawing.

Can someone from Microsoft please respond?

I have a similar problem with simple straight lines. It does appear that the
snap calculation works for horizontal and vertical axis. It moves over 0,
90, 180, and 270 degrees.

Did you ever get a response from Microsoft?

Yep, I've had this problem with lines also. PowerPoint can't even draw a
simple straight line these days. And no, Microsoft has never responded. And
I can't find anywhere to submit a bug report or solicit a response from them.
Very lame.
