powerpoint '07--save as '03 probs

B/c I'm an early adopter of office 07, I frequently have to save in 2003
format so that others can view my ppts. I realize that all the features
can't be avail in 03 format, but I'm really bothered that colors and sizes
change when these files are fired up in powerpoint 03--so that some graphics
hang off the slide. Is there anything I can do to view the slide as it will
be seen in 2003 or otherwise fix this, aside from forcing everyone to d/l the
compatibility pack for 2003 (which isn't feasible for non-coworkers anyway)?

I am surprised that you say colors change. I have not seen that before.
Check the RGB valuse of the colors to see whether they really change or
whether it's only a different setting of the screens. Are those normal
shapes or ones with 3D-effects (which are converted from shape to bitmap
image if you downsave)?

Regarding the size: Do those graphics contain text? Which font did you use?
If you use one of the newer fonts (Calibri, Corbel, etc.) which are the
standard setting in PPT 2007, they will not be available in PPT 2003 and
will be substituted by Arial or another font whích needs more space on the
slide.

My question would be, how do I save a 2007 pp show, so that all the styles
and image treatments can be viewed, then projected, from a MAC using (what I
believe is the MAC version) 2004? Is there some kind of viewer that people
who don't have powerpoint can project my files with?

PowerPoint 2003 for PC and 2004 for Mac are very similar. So you can save in
the 97-2003 format in PowerPoint 2007. Make sure to embed any special fonts
you used (Calibri, Corbel, etc. will not be installed on a Mac; Arial, Times
New Roman, Verdana, etc. should not be a problem). Don't use animation
paths, no Mac version supports them.

Until now, there is no PowerPoint Viewer 2007 for Mac, but Microsoft says,
Office 2008 will be avalable later this year.

Ute,
Thanks for your time and explanation. I did try that, but the fonts didn't
go over to the MAC, even tho I embedded them. Since I was using Postscript
Fonts in the show (Futura family), I gave them to the client and had them
install them. It still didn't format very cleanly.

So I reinstalled my 2003 PP program, and found out about the "Replace Fonts"
feature. So I'm just doing the grunt work, and going to let my client Replace
all the fonts in the show to be what they want.

Update: The client just replaced the fonts and all is good.
