Powerpoint 11.2.3 Hyperlink Causes Crash

N

I created a hyperlink to a Word document on an autoshape. The Word
document is in the same folder as the presentation on a flash drive.
When I attempt to open up the Word file, Powerpoint crashes. I have
sent the error report to MS and I have the log file. The problem can
be repeated on other Macs as well.

This was not a problem before I installed the 11.2.3 update. I have
reinstall office and it worked before I updated to 11.2.3. Any ideas?

Hi nels,

Does the document open OK if you manually open it by double-clicking on
the file icon?

Have you run Apple's Disk Utility program to repair permissions and
verify the disk?

Yes, the file opens just fine when double clicked. I have repaired
permissions with the same result.

I get the feeling that it might have to do with the macro/virus
checking when opening the file. I turned that off in both Word and
Powerpoint with the same result though, so I'm not sure.

Hi again,

Apple made some changes that could affect how files work on mounted
volumes other than the startup disc.

Do you have Mac OSX version 10.4.6 installed?

Hello,

Does the problem happen w/all links to all Word documents? Does it happen
if you make a text hyperlink instead of one on a shape? If you're still
hitting the crash, can you post or email me the crash log? (If you you're
going to email me, remove the online. part after the @ sign.)

One more thing to try. What happens if you create a new user account under
System Preferences > Accounts, switch over to that user and try again?

Andrew
