Powerpoint 2000 show on Dual monitors

I have a power point 2000 show automatically running on an external monitor
which is connected to my laptop. I want to use my laptop to do other things
while the show is running, however whenever surf the net or run a program on
the laptop it stops the slide show on the external monitor.

Is there any way I can use my laptop while having this slide show running?

I have also tried finding a solution to this problem everywhere. I have a
presentation that gets data from an excel document which I am editing while
the presentation runs. What I did notice whas that if i enable "Presenter
View" (the checkbox in the Set Up Show dialog) I do not need to have the
presentation active. The annoying thing is that the presenter view window
can't be minimized so it is in the way but this is the only free solution so
far that I have found.

I did not find the pptalchemy solutions mentioned to be good enough since
you have to drag the window to the second monitor which does not look very
professional to the audiance.

Note that I am using PowerPoint 2003. I don't know if the presenter view
window in PP2007 looks different or have the ability to be minimized, it
would be interesting to find out.

Please let me know if you have found another easy and free solution for this
problem.
