Powerpoint 2000

How come when I create an org chart using powerpoint and the chart exceeds
six levels down the preceeding org boxes are smaller that the org boxes
above? Is there a limit the number of levels, and therefore the boxes are
smaller?

In PowerPoint 2000, the included OrgChart (2.0) is positively Neanderthal.
It has almost no native layout options other than what it wants to do.
Because it is a separate sub-program, there isn't much that can be done
about it.

Are you using OrgChart 2.0?

In my playing with OrgChart, I have not run across this size decrease even
at 15 sub-levels in PowerPoint 2000 or PowerPoint 2003. I've run across no
limit in the number of levels or boxes, other than when the boxes exceed the
size limitation of 22 x 17 imposed by OrgChart 2.0.

Could you post back a few more details?
Is there any difference in the text size in the boxes or just the boxes?
Has the chart/presentation been edited on multiple machines?
Are there any newer versions of any Office programs on your computer?
Could you tell us a bit about your system?

Bill,
Thanks for you response. I have several examples of my org charts that do
the same thing. The 6th or 7th level the name box is smaller the the upper
boxes. Its as if it automatically resizes the box. The only way to make the
boxes approximately the same six as the others is add letters or spaces to
the name. If you delete the spaces it goes back the the original size and
smaller boxes. I wanted to attach some of my example for you to review but
can't insert an attachement to this post. I have even gone so far as trying
to insert them into MS word as a picture and it does the same thing. All of
my org charts are on 8.5 X 11.

I haven't been able to figure it out, and why. There is no way to resize
the boxes once they have been created.

Thanks,
Lamont

Could you put together a single PowerPoint slide with an OrgChart example
that shows this and e-mail it to the address in my signature? I'd like to
be able to see what you mean.

It may be an autoformat thing, but I'd like to see it to be sure.

Hi Bill,
I just tried to send you an org chart to BillDilworth@microsoft,com and it
was returned undelivered. Am I not sending it to the correct email address?

Another victim of OrgChart 2.0! Yes, this is the default behavior of this
older version of OrgChart, regardless of the program that calls it.

There is not any setting that allows you to change this default behavior.
Your 'add spaces' work around is the only way to continue the formatting
size.

In newer versions of OrgChart this is not the case. Upgrading to Office
2003 will fix this, or manually creating the chart from text boxes and
connectors, but if it is just for the one instance, your solution seems
best.

For what it is worth, do not be upset at PowerPoint 2000 for this, it is
just calling the sub-program OrgChart which was written in 1995, and has
since been greatly improved.
