PowerPoint 2003 can't open PowerPoint 2008 file

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel First, I know there is an old issue with the same title, and it is really the same problem, only the solution does not work for me.

Link to the old issue:

When I create a PP file using OfM2008 and save it as a PP file 97-2003, my client cannot open the file in MS Office for Windows 2003 Powerpoint. And gets the error described in the post mentioned above.

BUT: my client has already updated to SP3.

I am not sure if they have the compatability pack installed, but am I right that that should not be necessary because I used the old PP format?!

A workaround that works:
I open my file in MS Office for Windows 2007 Powerpoint and again save it as a 97-2003 PP file. That file can be read by PP 2003 of my client.

But I do not want to work in the 2007 version. What could be a solution to make it work between OfM 2008 en PP 2003?

Thanks in advance.

How are you getting the file to your client -- email attachment?

Make sure you are saving the file with the filename extension, & if it is
being emailed confirm that your email software is set to properly encode
attachments. It doesn't hurt to zip/stuff the file before attaching, either.

Hello Bob,

I did e-mail it first in Lotus Notes, but later I tried both versions with Gmail.
Also with Gmail I got the results mentioned in my original post.

So it is at least strange that I get different results with the 2 different PP versions.

I will give it a try to zip the mac version this afternoon.

Bob,

Zipping de file works!
(But in my opinion it should also work normally, because a file saved in MSO2007 - as 97-2003 - does not have this problem).
