Powerpoint 2003 file notation field

At the very bottom of the Powerpoint screen in a grey shaded box (very last
row, just above the Windows Taskbar) there appears to be a notation regarding
the file name. I am using a previously created file as a template and even
though I have renamed and saved the current file, the previous file name
still appears in this window. How can I reset / modify this notation so that
it shows the current file name?

Men,
Maybe the file name has been added to the master of your presentation. In
the masters footer for instance. Or perhaps in an independent textbox. There
is no automatic way you can update the document name as Word can. So it must
have been typed somewhere on the master.

Thanks for the info. Is it possible to change / remove the name of the old
template?

View--> Master--> Slide Master
Right click the slide master. Select Rename master. Change the name. Click
OK.
